Yesterday (Friday 2/5/10), my parole was up, and I was able to travel home. After 2 weeks in Alabama, I had enough. Anyway, my travel started at 7:00 am when I left the hotel for the airport. Got the rental car turned in and walked through the torrential rain to the terminal dragging a suitcase, a computer bag, golf clubs and a guitar. I checked in at the airline and everything seemed to be on time. I was traveling from Dothan, AL to Atlanta, Ga then on to Phoenix. After sitting there waiting to go through security, they announced that the flight was going to be delayed by 30 minutes. No big deal, after all it's pretty nasty outside. So I go through security and find a comfortable place to relax. Then they announce the flight will be delayed another hour. Shit, this is eating into my built in layover time in Atlanta (experience here). So the plane finally arrives and I'm finally on my way just a mere 2 hours late. We get to Atlanta, and it is absolute chaos. By this time, several northeastern airports have closed and it is all backing up into Atlanta. Delay after delay after delay, my 2:00 pm flight home did not depart until 8:30 pm. Argh!!! If it was this messed up in the south, I could only imagine how bad it was where the storm was hitting.
The good news is, I finally made it home around 10:30. Tired and hungry, but me and my luggage all made it.
