Hey all. What’s the most usual or surprising sound in a song you’ve heard and this is why I’m asking. I was listening to the Lemon Song by Zep and it was the first time I heard the gong on the beginning of the song. I know, I know but it’s true. So I wondered if anyone had a similar experience. Probably just the tequila. I totally visualized a kung fu movie when I heard it.

Metal Gods by Judas Priest features rattling a drawer of silverware. I didn't believe it at first when revealed on Making of Classic Albums. But I tried it in my kitchen, and sure enough, it worked!

My favorites

The chainsaw in the Jackyl Lumberjack song. Powertools as instruments kickass.

I also listen to a large amount of European folk music (the yodeling kind) one of their vocalizations is the same sound Disney's Goofy makes when he falls off of something exceptionally high. Super fun!

Pink Floyd, Wish You Were Here.

If memory serves, one of the guys is sniffling, panned to one side, during the intro.

Eddie's use of the power drill for the beginning of Poundcake is also awesome.

Tony Orlando and Dawn, Knock Three Times. They hit pipes two times for "Twice on the pipes." Obvious, but clever.

Matt Bellamy has always been known for his experimenting in the studio. The result of routing his guitar through various synth and pitchshifter links for the song "Map of the Problematique" is pretty unusual, but awesome in my opinion!

It's there right from the start of the track.

The clocks going off in Pink Floyd's "Time". Made me jump on first listen.
If it weren't for that segment, that would be a good album to put on when going to bed.

The "machine" sounds in Wish You Were Here are similar, but not as disturbing... gone to sleep to that album many times.
