Webcam recommendations?

Anyone have any recommendations on a decent webcam?
Looking for something to Skype/Teams/Zoom/Whatever with family overseas... ideally something with decent audio that I could set on a tripod for "family style" get togethers.
My nephew is a die hard Ukulele player (probably graduate to guitar when he gets a bit older) and he is wanting to practice his english. Figured he can teach my wife Uke and chat with me.... maybe learn some songs together.

Was eyeing up Logitech but everything/everywhere is sold out. So - off brand stuff on Amazon - anyone had any luck?

Thanks

I've never gone wrong with Logitech stuff. Always affordable and works well.

I've been using a Microsoft LifeCam Studio 1080p for at least several years now. There's some on Amazon.ca but maybe not worth $160 to you.

I had a couple of Logitech cams way back in the early years :)

I ended up going a bit off the beaten path with this quest...
In searching for a Logitech I stumbled on a thread where someone suggested modifying an Xbox camera as it has much better optics than most webcams...
So - off to the classifieds and $30 (Canadian) later I have an Xbox One Kinect in hand.
According to YouTube, a trip through my parts bin (12v wall wart and a barrel connector, a usb cable), a dab of solder and some windows drivers and I should be good to go :)

We'll see if is that simple

If you post the brand webcam in public form, you leave yourself open to predators because there may be known security issues with certain brands.

I don't trust them fancy webcams. Mark my words, at some point in the future an angry hacker will figure out how to activate everyone's webcams while they are on pornhub and millions of dudes whacking off will have a video of their "O" face plastered all over the interwebs.

There is a reason every single tech expert covers their built in webcams when not in use.

the phone cameras are the hard ones, nobody keeps tape front and back. But they always have that phone

those x box Kinect can do cool stuff besides just webcamming too
