If money is no object - Celestion. If you want good tone and save a few $$$ in the process, WGS. The WGS Veteran 30s and the Reaper 55Hz are a great combination in a 2x12 or 4x12. I have a 4x12 loaded with them and it sounds awesome. All of my amps sound better through that cab.

Thats what i did. Except i got the retro 30 instead of veteran 30.

if im looking for a fender type amp, webers all the way. though the weber blue dog is a great sounding version of the celestion blue. but for a marshall type amp, def celestions. warehouse...meh. if money was an issue, personally id go with eminence before the warehouse.

It is for a Marshall type amp. I don't want to buy Celestion because it seems you're playing for the name. Especially the fact that their speakers are made in china. I can buy similar quality and sound with warehouse.

any of the celestions i would want (blues, gold, heritage series) are ALL made in the UK. and i wouldnt say you are JUST paying for the name, you are paying for the sound. anything that sounds arguably BETTER than celestions, cost MORE. i tried warehouse because of all the hype and personally was not impressed. they were nowhere near as nice as celestions or webers. or eminence for that matter. though cheaper and not BAD. but for the extra $50, id rather go with something that sounds noticeably better. thats why switching speakers out is so fun. you dont have to drop a $G to get some different sounds! gotta love that. one of the few things left.

The Weber British Series 1225 ceramic is a fantastic speaker for the Marshall/Vox tone. I had a pair in my Phaez and it could nail tones like Boston and ZZ Top. These particular speakers are 25 watts with a 30oz magnet and 1.75" voice coil, but you have get higher wattage. The cost $105 each.

Well, I've played Emminence and was completely blown away!!! ... by the crappy sound coming out of them!

I love Celestions, yeah, but they're not the cream of the crop. Lots of this stuff is the power of suggestion, when we read the label we think "oh, God, they sound great" and we condition ourselves to think that way.

Yes, like it or not, you pay for the brand. You can get the same quality of shoes or jeans or speakers without the brand for cheap, that's the entire idea behind "generics" selling way cheaper than brand-name medicine BTW.. lol

BTW - I should also mention that I replaced the Celestions in the 4x12 with Warehouse speakers and a 1x12 formerly with a Celestion has been replaced with a Warehouse speaker. I kept one 1x12 with a Celestion in it but I don't use it much. I stick with the Warehouse speakers. I replaced the Stock Jensen in my Fender DRRI with a Celestion but a Warehouse Reaper would have done just as well. The reason I went with a Celestion over a Warehouse speaker for the Fender was for resale. People know the name Celestion and think it's special. If I was going to keep the Fender for the long haul, it would have had a WGS Reaper in it for sure.

Thank you. Warehouses are cheaper and get the job done, thats why i own a Laney as opposed to a Marshall, who lives on their name.

What didn't you like about warehouses? BTW i forgot to mention in the OP that i don't want high sensitivity (that counts out eminence's G12H30 copy "the wizard"), so i can achieve better tube drive at lower levels.
I just switched out my Wizards to Celestions for exactly this reason, but they’re great speakers! I went to a G12H30 70th Anniversary and a Vintage 30, but lost some warmth in the process. Not looking to swap my Vintage 30 for a Heritage Series G12H30 (55 Hz).

Old thread... So I'm guessing in the same survey today, WGS would fair much better. - Really great speakers who's reputation has grown.
I think WGS makes great stuff, but their prices have gone up dramatically since this thread was born. They’re almost as much as Celestion now, and I don’t think the resale value is as good. I would personally rank them a little lower because of it.

Where are you? Is the V30 8 ohms? I’m looking to trade an 8 ohm, 30W Weber Silver Bell with light dope. Sensitivity is 98db.

I've had WGS speakers for years in a 212. Vet 30 and ET65. Just fantastic.
I did Invaders and ET65s in a 4x12. Originally ran them in an X pattern as is often suggested, but I ultimately replaced the particle board back of the cabinet with birch plywood and boxed in the bottom two ET65s, left the top partially open backed with the Invaders, and I fucking love it. They were all about $65 a pop at the time, but I'd probably replace them with the same if I had to.
