i was at the local gc the other day and checked out this 2006 custom shop vos 58 cherry burst standard they had on the wall. it has a 3 piece neck on it (and i am not talking about the ears). i thought this was strange, and i questioned the sales guy who did not have an answer. so i called up gibson today and they said that real 58', 59's and 60's did not have 3 piece necks, and he is not sure why this one would have this neck either. maybe they built the neck from scrap mahagony to save money?

Thats odd. Ive read that the historic re-issues all have one piece necks, except for the ears. I dont think ive even heard of a regular LP standard or otherwise not having a one piecer.
