I installed some four wire SD pickups in a guitar tonight, with the SD diagram for 2 humbuckers, 2 vol/tone and push/pulls. The '59 is in the neck and the JB is in the bridge, two 500k CTS pots for volume, two Sprague Vitamin Q .022uf caps, and Allparts push/pulls.
I had to use the screws from the guitar as the pickup height adjustment machine screws (with the springs around them) weren't in the deal I got on these used pups.
The four screws are the same size and the neck pickup is very high. The screws aren't long enough to lower it significantly from the strings.
When I plugged it in, the neck pup was noticeably louder than the bridge. I mean NOTICEABLY. I raised the JB as high as I could and it is still not equal to the neck.
Any suggestions on troubleshooting this? Thanks in advance.
