Cheers Gróf!

@Aethius: yeah this year they had to reissue the reissues with new body shapes, Gibson probably threatened to sue them or they learned from someone else's case... Your find at least has the original shape.

Well, best of luck with it then. My brothers VS6 (SG) is a very nice guitar for the money, well playing, decent tuners, nice woods and finish, and I wouldn't mind trying a V100 myself.

One thing I'd like to ask Mr. Gansburg: does your V100 have an angled neck like an LP is supposed to have? My brothers SG's neck runs paralel to the body, and that's feels quite odd in hand...

Certainly does -

Still need info on the neck angle guys, does the V100 have the approx. 3° backtilt like Gibsons do?

Also, do pancake bodies affect the sound compared to regular multipiece bodies?

Don't know what the exact construction of the initial Reissues was but mine looks like a 2 piece body with a maple veneer.

Gibson experimented with multi-piece bodies for a while and whilst on a clear finish it is usually aesthetically preferable to have fewer pieces of wood it probably makes very little difference (if any at all) in practical terms. Just a couple of threads that came up when looked for this - 1, 2.

HTH

Edit - This post just popped up here as well (re pancake bodies).

Thanks for the thorough answer, Mr. Gansburg! Good to know the V100s are built like they should be.

I will check out the links.
