Can anyone tell me besides the factory worn finish is there any differences between the standard vintage V100 guitars and the v100 ICON guitars? I've heard the necks are thinner on the v100 ICON's than the standard ones, is this true?

thanks in advance

the neck is unlacquered so it feels slimmer and faster. that's pretty much it.

thanks for replying so quick mate. In reality would i notice much difference with only playing for 8 months??? I've got really small hands so the thinner the neck the better but if its only microns then i'll go for the standard, im not too keen on the pre worn look

nah, i've owned both (still have two non-icon v100s) and they're very similar. the normal v100 is a great guitar. which one you thinking of getting?

Are the vintages photo flame? I have a look at one of the icons and it appeared to be a film not veneer. That can be a good thing if you decide to refinnish later on.

The one that differs is the peter greene model that features different pickups with nickel covers and neck wired out of phase.

the v100s are all veneered. no photo flames. and yes nosluom, that's the iced tea, i love it. you'll be happy with the v100 until you're playing big gigs, trust me. they're very reliable guitars, and they sound awesome. also, they're perfect for modding once you get curious, as i have.

i had the PG model for a while, and it was an awesome guitar, but i didn't like the flame. it looked really dark and one dimensional. the pickups on it were great though. i've thought about getting some to stick in another guitar ever since i sold it :)

Hi Folks i'm new to this i was jus wondering if everything i've heard about the v100 being a great guitar is true - i'm seriously considering getting one in cherry burst i'm a beginner and i would one day like to be able to play zeppelin and skynyrd etc
I would appreciate any help anybody could offer me in making my decision

my V100HB... i LOVE IT! trully a great guitar! took off the pickguard and it looks even better... who ever buys one of theese won't be making a wrong choice!

Ninjaassasin1983... you won't regret buying it... ;) go to your local music shop and try it! the main thing is that you feel comfortable while playing it...

ninja - it's the best beginner rock guitar i can think of, and it's quality is enough that you won't want to upgrade until you're semi pro or even pro.

well... for a begginer... everything is good :D
you'll probably be practising at home,so 15W of transistor power is more than enough :D
if you can afford it, try a VOX Pathfinder 15R... my friend and lead guitarist in the band bought it to practice at home and it's a great amp...

The Vintage V100 is getting a lot of love on a number of forums. Over on Harmony Central people are buying Peter Green models.

I'd think about an Epihone Valve Jr. combo or head amp. Nice little cheap 5W tube amp. Put an effects or two in front of it, and you'll be smiling. JMHO
