What's up with this alleged '73 SG Custom, photo below?

The neck pickup is right up against the neck. All the GIBSON SG's I've eyeballed recently have about 3/4" between the end fretboard and the neck pickup. Maybe some vintage 70's 3 pickup models excluded.

Was this factory? Did they move the necks inbound for a while? Maybe a shortcut to not resetting the machine from the 3 pickup layout? It has the Custom headstock inlay.

Yes, during that time period Gibson set the neck in further. It's normal and factory.
Thanks. I learn something every day. But I forget something too, so I come out even.

The sg has been in continuous production since 1960 and a LOT of variations are out there. Everything sg used to be a great resource before it turned into a cookie cutter forum, but if I recall correctly you can still use the way back machine to view the old pages with deetz on ALL the various models over the years.
