Very clean looking and fantastic sounding EMV-12S. The 12S is a slight shorter version of the 12L. This one has the original cone and a aluminum coil cover which was only used for a short while on the EVM-12 models. I was told by a EVM aficionado that the one with the aluminum coil covers sound a touch brighter than the ones with the paper coil cover. I believe this one to be vintage, as it was in a cab with 2 Altec 417-8H's and a JBL K-120. The only flaw on this one is a small screwdriver poke by a screw hole on the outer ring, which was repaired with a fews drops of Elmer's glue.

Here's a review of the 12L vs. 12S which does a very good job of explaing the diffenreces and features:

How many ohms is that one?

I had one of those back in the 70s. I bought a 70s Fender Twin off a buddy and he threw in the EVM for free, because a mic stand had gone through the cone.

Not knowing any better, I took two squares of toilet paper. One on each side of the hole. Then I painted both sides with clear fingernail polish. Some time around the early 80s, an amp tech talked me into letting him mod my Twin.

He made some magic mods to the circuitry and put in a new baffle for just a single 12". We put that old EVM in it. That amp was nothing short of amazing. I used it 5 nights a week gigging with a road band for about three years. That was one heavy amp, but it had casters and never gave me one ounce of trouble the entire time.

Those speakers are indestructible
