I'm just about to mount new wiring and electronics in my guitar and the thought struck me to use terminal blocks (chocolate blocks) to aid the future substitution of components, especially the swapping of pickups.

I've never seen anyone doing this. Is there a good reason not to go ahead and use them?

well, it makes sense if you are going to be swapping out components a lot.

It makes a LOT of sense if you want to make a "pickup demonstrator" or "tone pot" demonstrator guitar.. or want to swap caps out or something of that respect..

It just doesn't make much sense if you plan on leaving the stuff in there.. A solder connection is better than a terminal block connection and, in reality, most people look at circuits other than direct solder as "cheap assed new technology!!!"

I can't say i'm any different, I looked at a newer SG and it had a PCB board in it and i said.. Eeeeeeeeew.. and no sale for YOU!!

Member Quill and I have done this for quick pickup changes. We catch a lot of flack for it, but we're glad we did it: http://www.mylespaul.com/forums/pickups/69938-quick-change-pickup-tip.html

Kinda like the LP Push Tone without hacking holes through the guitar. Great idea.
