Wondering if you fellow LP lovers are seeing an upward trend in the prices of used R8's...
I left the LP market for about 6-8 months.... i.e.- the beginning of 2011 a clean used R8 could be found for $1900-$2300.:hmm:

Back into surfing the R8 market today (8/19) and it seems that folks are asking $2500-$3000 for the same type of axe on eBay. :wow:

Anyone else seeing this trend??

I think they're trying to offset some of the ebay fees. If you notice not a single one is selling for that price. I've been watching out for an R8 for a while now and they're the same ones that were listed weeks ago. On this board and others they still go for $2100-$2300.

Brian,
Thanks for reality snapshot based on your recent search. Glad to know the MLP prices are still good (although I see no R8's currently listed...)

Just curious? Is there a way one could tell if they have old growth wood in their guitar?

No need to sigh not everybody is an expert.

I do not know a lot about wood grain or how to spot these type of things.
Huh? My post wasn't directed towards you nor anyone. And definitely had nothing to do with wood grain old growth anything of the sort. My sigh is about the seemingly higher prices.

So , You made the post which varifies your claim ? Nice. i need to try that 1. As fas as I understand what old growth means. It's been many years since it's all been used up. It is how a forrest is discribed, as to the nature of the trees that grew in it. Not just old trees.(What does old wood mean to you ?) Anyone can count tree rings , that, in itself doesn't make it old growth.
2001 was not old growth trees or wood . That's a dream . Sorry.
In Brasil, parts of the Amazon are still "old Growth" forrests, but the cutting of the trees was stopped. For the large part. for Mfg's , such as Gibson . Today what you can buy is
stump wood. the left over stumps that are still in the ground and stashes of wood put away before the ban. (although there is a black market)
I'd like to see how you make this 2001 wood "old Growth" this should be good.
