First Post.

Third Les Paul. :slash:

I joined the forum to spread the love on this awesome guitar.

I tried all 3 at the store. The VOS is a tank. The neck is huge. It is amazing.

The epiphone even with the accessories is a bit over priced. Its still a killer guitar, but at $1000 it is over priced.

The standard however is perfect. the headstock is really cool. the finish and binding are perfect. The pickups scream.

I've also included pics of the "cert".

Its not signed and numbered...it would be alot cooler if it was.

Guitar Center Seattle.

2399$

the epi was 999$

and the VOS was 3849$

Like I said the VOS was really cool. It had the muted almost dull finish, but it was huge...it was solid. the neck was fatter too.

For the $$$ the standard felt like the right choice.

yes the standard is much lighter than the VOS.

the sales guy says that the standard is chambered, and it feels like it.

but, i've been reading that its not...so i'm not sure.

its as light as my '07 classic and lighter than my '92 studio.

A note on the COA for those of you who might have gotten pissed (like me) in seeing the one above and didn't get one

I called Gibson and they said that they didn't get them all out in time to be with the guitar. They "overnighted" them to the dealers the next day. So if you are like me and didn't get one call the dealer back if you want it. They should have them.

For me it's not the the guitar is any less to me without it, or that it makes it what it is, but dammit, if I'm paying that much for a guitar I want every damn thing that is supposed to come with it. Even the stupid Made in Canada sticker that is on the bag for the case :)

Sorry dude.

I included the COA picture so that everyone could see it , and to know what to look for.

Its nothing fancy and has not indication as to what number out of the 1600 it is.

Any word on any bonus stuff like the Epiphone.

I heard the VOS came with a leather jacket is that right?

I have just found out that my Slash Standard was the 84th to come off the production line, not bad for 1600 limited edition.
Still want my COA

I think you can check with the serial number on

The Guitar Dater Project - Gibson Serial Number Decoder

I was under the impression that it was the number guitar made on the certain day. Not sure though. Would love to find out what mine was, knowing my luck, with me being one of the first to get one it will be the 1600 made lol

Yeah Db1408 is right, used the guitar dater project. And according to Gibson as these models were made on a separate production line; the number that comes up on the web site is the number of the limited edition. But we dont know for sure as Gibson was too tight to do something like SL01 - SL1600!

Beautiful Guitar, and pics! congrats.

I'm still in two minds though, there seems have been a lot of messing around and confusion on this guitar (neck tenon type, COA, accessories, serial numbering, chambering versus solid body).
Even emails from Gibson themselves have been contradictory.

My dealer still hasn't gotten their delivery as it was delayed, but they did have the Murphy Aged VOS, number SL039 which I got a chance to play. It was fabulous. Very heavy guitar, with a fabulous sound, and an obvious great worn in feeling! :)

Standard looks great though :D well done again
