Hey everyone,
I'm about to buy a "used" Epi Standard Plus Top for a reputable guitar store and I was checking the serial number EE70308167 and it comes back as unknown.

I read alot of the threads here about serial numbers, but this one got me puzzled. I know the first 2 letters mean "Qingdao China", but that's about as far as I can go. Can someone help me out?

Cheers.

If it said EE070308167 then that would be a good thing, that way the guitardater would come back saying
Your Guitar Was built at
EE (Qingdao China) 2007 03 (March)Production # 08167

Either you left off the first 0 or something isn't right with the guitar.

Damn! You beat me to it.

Missing a zero there me thinks. :wow:

Otherwise its a dodgy sounding Epi.

Have a good read through the Fake Epi threads. Has saved me some hard earned cash so far.

Nope, I called them again and they gave me the same serial number. It's not missing a zero.

So it seems that everyone is having the same problem as me.

Is it possible they forgot to add the zero?

Cheers.

Yup, then there would be a big problem.

The seriel number must start with a zero (EE07038167). EE7030 makes absolutely NO sense, that would mean that the guitar will be built in the 30th month of 2070!

Why don't you go in and look for yourself - take a good look through the fake epi threads first, and see if there are any other differences - might just be a tool that you are talking to at the store who can't read - I dunno, I don't trust much outside what I see with my own 2 eyes.

I took your advice and did that, .....yes, he missed the first zero, so the serial number is EE070308167.

So it was made in Qingdao China in March of 2007, Production # 08167

Cheers, and thanks everyone!
