Squiers have been made in several countries--the US, Japan, Korea, India and China--possibly others during the time the Squier brand has been used by Fender.

Could be a fake. Yeah, I don't know why anybody would do it but I suppose there's no shortage of morons who'd fake a Squier.

Could be an aftermarket neck. Could be just an aftermarket part. Get the serial and call Fender, maybe they can help.

Squiers were made in the US for a short period of time in the late 80s/early 90s. I have one, plays extremely well. They are pretty rare evidently.
