Hi everyone, does anyone know of the Grover tuners on the Epiphone Elite Les Paul Plus is standard size or metric? I want to replace the Grovers on mine because I can't stand chrome hardware and I want to replace them with Grover milk bottle tuners in nickel and I'm hoping it would be an easy drop in fix. Thanks. :D

The milk bottle refers to the shape of the gearhouse. On the old US made it was rounded and kind of milk bottle shape. The gearhousing on the Asian made ones have one flat side towards the head. A few years back Grover reintroduced the milk bottle shaped gear housing for those who wanted more vintage correct Grovers.

All imports are metric at 10 millimeters. About all USA made are 3/8 of an inch. Close enough to piss you off.

Are you saying they won't fit?

I think Kevin refers to the US made being 3/8" (9.53mm) diameter where they go through the head, and the new Asian ones are 9.91mm. The holes in the Epiphone headstock are 10mm so they'll fit.
They may be a PIA on older Gibsons with just enough clearance for the 3/8" tuners though.

Thanks. I was worried because the Epiphone Elite is made in Japan and was worried that the grovers on it now and the holes were metric.
