I know 90% of the tone comes from the fingers and I ain't Alvin Lee by a very long shot but could anyone give me some pointers as to a starting point for his sound.

I'm using Amplitube 3 but also have access to Guitar Rig 5 if needs be.

I don´t know Amplitube or Guitar Rig, but I would say :

- Be sure to use a ES 335 type guitar. I think I get more Alvin tone from those than from my Les Pauls.
- I hear Alvins tone as bright and midtone/ nasal ( like his singing ). I think due to the fact that he played with PAFs with covers off.
So if you can get a pair of boutique PAFs ( I can recommend Sheptones ) that would be fine. Otherwise use the controls/ Eq.

Good luck with the hunt for the tone of this great great musicisian :thumb::thumb:
Please post the results if you get something on tape.

Hi Guys

Thanks for responding. :thumb:

What I'm looking for in particular is if anyone has got a set of presets for either Amplitube or Guitar Rig which I could use as a starting point.
