Man it's hard to not click on the links that have articles on the latest Bond outing "SPECTRE" being filmed. I just want to go into the film next fall knowing as little as possible about the details. I don't want to ruin my cinematic Christmas present. Anyone else trying to avoid too much information about the film before you get to see it?

Oh yeah, one more thing "Quantum Of Solace" is way underrated. Saw it in the theater twice and was underwhelmed. Rented it at least once and it was again, underwhelming. Saw it on TV a couple of times and it was less than. Then something strange happened. I watched it on TV one more time and I thought it was brilliant. Go figure, maybe it was the pot, either way now I think it's one of the best Bond outings ever. So weird, but I'm really glad to finally embrace the films charms.

Quantum....What was agent "Fields" first name, that was never actually mentioned in the film? No looking it up!

This thread is also an excuse to talk about 007.

Quantum was entertaining, but the editing bothered me a bit. More entertaining than substantial.

Had to Google Fields' name since I forgot, so I won't try to cover my cheating here.

I thought Skyfall was a lot better. Javier Bardem and Craig both knocked it out of the park. Great acting.

I absolutely LOVED Skyfall to death, it's so beautifully shot, the locations are great, the background on Bond was new ground. Bardem...what can you say about that guy, he's so creepy, so gooood as a heavy. The other thing about Skyfall I was happy to see was the sense of humor coming back just a bit. Nothing campy thank goodness, but still a nod to past Bonds. What I really can't wait to see with SPECTRE is how they will blend old school Bond with the new harder "Bourne" esc Bond. Not for one second do I think they will sacrifice the hard earned "cred" they got from Casino on, Craig doesn't do camp. I think this is the most anticipated Bond outing of my lifetime. If only I had a time machine right now...........

Without googling, Strawberry Fields, I believe.

The name of the movie, SPECTRE, alone, sent me into a Bond nerd moment. The opening weekend is going to be like a holiday for me.

I agree with Drew, Quantum's editing turned me off, especially after the excellent editing on Casino. Come to think about it I can hardly remember anything about Quantum at all.

Minor thread-jack warning...

I had this same weird experience with The Big Lebowski. Sat down to watch it with my wife. She fell asleep about 20 minutes into the movie. I thought it was okay. She really wanted to see the movie, so I sat and watched it with her the next night. Second time through, I LMAO the entire time. Still one of my favorite movies, but only because I watched it that second time.

The Dude definitely abides.

Am I the only one who was really underwhelmed by Skyfall?

Sure, the locations and some of the stunt work was spectacular, but that could be said of some of the worst of the Moore-era stinkers.

Bardem's whole scheme relied way too much on coincidences- and then yet another tired, lame, silly "computers are magic," "a good hacker can control the whole world" thing.

Oh- and I don't care about M buying it, but they killed the DB5! You bastards!

That's so weird, "I can hardly remember anything about Quantum" is exactly my thoughts on seeing the film in the theater too. I saw it, enjoyed it, then afterward I couldn't remember anything about it, nothing stood out. Saw it again, same thing. I still marvel at the idea that I saw the film maybe 5 times before being blown away the sixth time. It's just so odd to me, I've never had anything like that happen before. Like I said, now I really love the film and think it fits in so nicely into the Casino story arc.

On the editing I noticed the blurred edits during the big boat scene. It didn't distract me or annoy me, but I did notice the style was different. Still I don't mind because I want each film to stand alone visually, and it terms of shooting and editing style. Check it out again, maybe you will see it's charms too. Bring pot!

Now I remember the boat scene but only that the editing annoyed me. :D Oddly there are movies that I've hated but remember, Quantum didn't even register. I hated the Pierce Brosnan Bond movies but at least remember what I didn't like about them. Maybe because I like Brosnan as an actor (Thomas Crown is a favorite).
I'll have to give Quantum another chance but I really can't think of a reason to give it five chances.

Then don't. I couldn't care less. But, I do care about my reputation. I have someone else willing to do the job. He just needs the particulars, and payment.

Yep, this guy right here. I want to know very little about a movie and go in and just experience it.

These days, if you watch the trailer, you have seen all the good parts by the time the lights dim in the theater.

YES YES YES, that is it exactly, I want to go in with a fresh mind and no expectations based on articles I've read or pictures, trailers, etc. One time as a child I hunted and found all my Christmas presents and boy did I learn a lesson that year. Never did it again, nothing worse than spoiling your own surprise. I must say though, I love the new "poster" of him in a turtleneck (See Roger Moore) and a shoulder gun holster. It looks really cool, as does the pic of him all in black in the snow with black goggles on ski's. NICE!

The only problem now is all the time between now and next Thanksgiving, we've got a long long way to go, but it's going to be well worth it. Here's to hoping Daniel Craig does at least two more Bond films giving the grateful world a cool six pack of superior Bond outings.

Ha, I did that once. I found the stash and carefully pried open the wrapping just to get a peek. I saw a flash of yellow and *thought* I was getting a particular toy I was longing for.

Christmas Day, I opened it up - turned out to be something entirely different from what I was expecting. I was disappointed, but couldn't let it show.

(There's a lesson here that also extends to movie previews...)
