Hey guys, I have an Orville by Gibson 57 RI that I’m trying to set up in a low tuning (c standard). I have the guitar set up as I want ... well, almost. When intonating the G string im running out of wiggle room on the saddle as I try to flatten the pitch. The relief is set as I’ve always had it (0.10”), as is the PU height, bridge height etc. The nut slots are wide enough as well for the 12s I’m using. I verified this with the guy at the guitar shop.

He says these bridges were not designed to be used with low tunings. In which case, can anyone recommend a suitable bridge for this model (approx 73.6mm between posts) with saddles that extend beyond the standard specs (mine travel approx 6.5mm). He was not helpful in this regard.

Just to make sure I understand:
You've reversed the saddle on the screw, and you still don't have enough play?

Thanks.

If you've already reversed the saddle, I would say go to the Nashville Gotoh bridge. I had to do that on an Edwards for someone who bought it from me to do his down tuning.

The only other option is to move the bridge back somehow. Either by plugging the old holes and redrilling new ones or Dan Erlewine actually cut a post and then used JB Weld on the thumbwheel to move the top half of the post back so it was sitting more near the edge of the thumbwheel.

I have reversed the saddle but now i can longer get it to move when turning the intonation screw! Bear with me...

Should this fail I will look at the gotoh bridge - thanks for the suggestion

Got it working, but still no room to intonate, so a new bridge it is
