Hi. I've looked around my country and I haven't found anything. Ordering something from the US would be crazy expensive...
So, does anyone know a reliable place here in Europe? For tops, cause the rest I know where to get.. It's just figured tops that seem a mirage around here

Well, anywhere in Europe will have to import their American/Canadian grown maple too. So you'll pay one way or another.

Both Curlymaple and Oldworldtonewoods have posted to me in Australia with reasonable shipping. Its often cheaper for me to buy o/s and ship internationally than buy locally with local shipping

Hi Mangus
try this

http://www.espen.de/index.php/en/tonewood/e-guitars

or touchstone tonewoods
I get my tops from the USA ebay It can be expensive the shipping sometimes costs more than the wood.
Cheers

What are you looking for and where are you
I'm in Portugal and I'm either looking for maple or sycamore. I'm alsonopened to suggestions.

Regarding curlymaple, I've tried simulating a purchase to see if I could find out the shipping cost but it couldn'even give me one. And to make matters worse customs would be involves and I would have to pay extra import taxes..

I get my boards from curlymaple.com

If you order from a luthier supply place the cost of tops is really high so I go direct

I'll probably be ordering again soon and always happy to split shipping with others
We recently did this with John p90 although he kept most of it, I took a few tops

Might be worth seeing if others in Portugal want some maple, it works out much cheaper

If you want a flame-top then you could try these: http://www.curlymaplewood.com/

I've heard there prices are fair but shipping is the same as anywhere else.

Ebay is an alternative as some aren't selling tonewood.

If you are making a Goldtop you could go to any timber/lumber supplier in your location and buy Maple from there.

Honestly, the wood is so expensive I'm beginning to wonder if I wouldn't be better off ordering a medium quality kit... Like bulldog's
