A little backstory...I used to have a 1990 Gibson Explorer that I bought new and loved but fell on hard times and had to sell it about 10 years ago. After that I didn't play much guitar other than fiddling around with an acoustic here and there. I just recently (in the past couple of years) started to get back into playing guitar more and ended picking up a Strat. I have been wanting another Gibson for so long but never was able to pick one up and whenever I looked at the prices I couldn't justify for the amount I played. Today I said screw that and put an order in for a Studio 50's Tribute Goldtop with humbuckers. I seriously can't wait!

I hope the GAS bug doesn't get you after this new guitar arrives.

Good for you! I probably can't justify what I paid for a LP either considering I don't make money playing any more but that doesn't stop a lot of us from buying them up anyway! Let us know when you get it and get some good pix for us.

I had exactly that exact guitar several months ago. Had to return it because I got a $550 traffic ticket:facepalm:

Sounded and played great while it was in my possession. HNGD! Enjoy!!

Just checked the shipping status and it should be here tomorrow. I have some plans for this one, not much though. Nickel Pickup covers and maybe some new knobs.

So the Les Paul came in today. I will get some pics up soon. I do have a few questions about it if anyone has one. Mine seems like the Fretboard is thinner than the neck, there is a small "ledge" I guess. its not as noticable near the body but up near the headstock it gets a bit worse. Also, the edges of the board are literally 90 degrees, not rolled edge or anything. Is this normal on a Les paul studio? I don't remember my explorer neck to be like this although a completely different guitar. The edges are not a huge deal as those can be sanded, but I kinda expected better on the build. everything else about the guitar is great, nice resonance and sounds really really nice. I guess it happens when you order online and dont play it first.

The ledge thing seems to be common across the Tribute models. I don't have one, but I've seen several threads on this forum talking about it.

The fretboard is also really dry, its possible that a good oiling will help expand the board possibly

I did Promise Pics I also decided to expose the maple edge for that Faux Binding look which I am still working on. I might do th entire back though as I really like the lightback look. We'll see.

Oh and the back is not black, more of a brownish color which is really nice...
