Well, just snagged a reduced price Demo model at Sweetwater, Should be here maybe tomorrow, maybe Saturday. Will let you know my thoughts (and how it compares to Axe FX, HX Stomp, Catalyst, Katana, Boss GT, and what I remember of the Kemper I once had)

Got busy after I got the codes mid week. Planned to really go through it last night, but son and I decided to see Wick $4 instead.

But, I did spend some time going through the banks of presets a bit. Mind you, on this pedal, presets can be any combination of pedal, amp, cab, or just one of them. There are more than a few just pedal presets of some one capturing just a drive pedal. I haven't got to them yet. Cool idea, and I plan to this weekend, with my Supro amp. But, I focused on just Amp/cab or Pedal/Amp/Cab. All through headphones.

Presets are a mixed bag, as I expected. There are a broad range of tones, from cleans, blues crunch, classic rock crunch, to metal tones. Mind you some are very good, some not to my liking at all. Like anything with this tech, profiling/capturing a snapshot of an amp, it all depends on the person's ear, even taste, and gear to capture. For instance, one was a JCM 800 setup and captured, like I would never use a JCM 800 personally, for a djent type tone. SO some are just not tones I'd use.

SOme I really like, through headphones. Quick initial impression, as far as quality, definately, but usefulness, overall, is similar to Kemper presets, when I had one. And with the Kemper, I tended toward buying or downloading profiles, because of that.

My overall first impression, on a quick go through, is they went for variety of tones, not providing a swath from any one amp. i.e. capturing one amp through a range of it's settings. Typically, that is what you get when you buy from a producer.that it was a return.

THAT is assuming it came stock. I did find out from Sweetwater, while we waitied on IK to send the code, a that it was a return.

So, this weekend I plan on hitting it hard, both headphones, through mr FRFR setup (monitors and matrix amp with Xitones) and through the Supro combo. Going to try some free ad purchased captures I got from 'pro' producers, and the tone cloud they have.

Look for something late Sunday or Monday. Also have my Marshall Re-Issu Guv'nor coming today.

Keep watching them for Demos. Methinks they are gettin a lot of early buyers, that did reviews then returned them. Demo ships right away.

Or go straight to the IK Media/Tonex site. They say they ship right away.
