Tone report / demo: 2003 1957 Reissue Brazilian rosewood fret board

newbie question of the day. How do those things work? you plug the combo output into the brake, then the brake to the speaker? Essentially inserting it serially between the amp and the speaker? How do you like it? I might be interested in something like this for my Mark V combo.

Was wondering myself about that kind of thing, because I'm planning on buying a new valve amp but need to play at very low volumes sometimes, so came across this on Ebay UK. Slightly different take on it - amp must have an effects loop. Can't say if it works or not, but for the price I'll give it a try if/when I get a new amp:
