I really like the tone I am getting from this one.

The first video was done with my amp on the clean channel with some gain. I pulled the backing track from the DVD of the "live" performance & took the track that had very little guitar but had the other instruments in it.

For the next two videos, the song is different. I just learned this solo. I don't think it is the best song to use to demonstrate the tone. But I wanted a demo in which I was not "playing over Page". LOL But in the first version of it, the amp is on the clean channel like the one above. And in the second version I used the dirty channel. Special thanks to Elias Barreda for the tabs and the backing track!

And for my usual caveat, I think I am a little more rusty than usual, so I am sure there are plenty of mistakes and random unintentional notes that sneak in. The purpose here is to listen to the tone, not get the solos perfect. I am sure that the Youtube police will take the videos down. So I have them on Photobucket as a backup (links below the Youtube links).

Let me know what you think about the tone. :dude:

I used my normal setup: Marshall JCM 900 100 watt 2x12 combo with a Marshall power brake. No pedals.

that first one is my favourite John :thumb:

How do they sound to you , the recorded versions ,
compared to real "time" ?

I can't possibly imagine ,
a playback sounding as nice
as "live"

Thanks as always man , as I await my R8's arrival this week as well .

Cheers

As always, sounds great to me. I am not a working musician, so I' m in
it for fun and that is the main thing.

Great sounding Lester regardless, and killer looking one at that. Did not sound rusty to me.

Thanks for the video's.

going through a slew of vintage Marshalls last week ,
I couldn't get over how they sound in person .

What I find is thinner sounding examples , through playback
of vids on u-boob , through my apple or , computer .

How does the '13 sound in comparison to your other beauties ?

Thanks Tommy. I very rarely play. When I do a video, I play a little while each day for a couple of weeks or so (maybe long if learning a new solo) until most of the rust is gone. After making the video, I do not play again until I need to learn something or demo a new guitar. But it isn't like I sat down & made those videos on the first try! Ha!

It sounds very much like my Page #2 LP, but the #2 has a hotter bridge pickup. Very similar though. My LPs with burstbuckers are a little more raw sounding. But I like the fact that they all sound & play a little different.

Great guitar, great tone, but I’m hearing more Dickey Betts
Goldtop, than any of JP’s guitars. Thanks for posting, nice!

JA2006 - First, very nice playing. Considering video sound limitations, those stock PUs sound beautiful. On this first video you essentially nailed TSRTS sound/tone. Really impressed with the sound you pulled out of that. I really hear that rich Les Paul / Marshall combo sound. Well done man! On the second and third videos I'm hearing more of a honk tone... Sounds sweet nonetheless.

That Lemon screams! What do you think about the neck compared to the R9s?

Thanks! The neck, being a V2, feels like a small R9 to me. Not a fat R9. But very close to a couple of R9s I have owned. Not nearly as skinny as a V3. I think V2 is just right.

That would require effort on my part! Including buying a tool to measure it! I have it in the back of my mind to pick up a micrometer at some point!

that reminds me; these guitars came with two sets of knobs - bonnets and reflectors. Dave's is waiting for Gibson to send them my second set of knobs & they will forward to me.

As always dude, Love your Page work......But there were several mistakes; note 17,123 and 32,001 didn't have the right vibrato....oh... and you missed a pull off in "I'm gonna crawl" too.....

Srsly Great Job and nice guitar......

You can get cheapo digital calipers at Home Depot, like $9.00.
