I am seriously considering buying this guitar this weekend. It looks killer and I love the finish and it's a Tokai, so I'm assuming it's fairly good build quality. I would probably personally swap out the pickups. Other than that are the bodies of these one piece?

What do ya think?

Then, I saw this.

I like the look of the Tokai, not into black but even better would be to hold it and play it. No local guitars?

The LS90/92 is my favourite model in the Tokai range, and VF my favourite colour.
Look at the maple top on that guitar, it's stunning.

If it has MKII pickups in it then no need to change pickups, they sound great.

And, no need to play a Tokai before buying it, the consistency of quality is as close to 'perfect' as it gets.

get both! but seriously customs tend to sound a little darker caused by the solid mahogany body as opposed to guitars with maple caps.. and they're a pain to clean (much like black cars) but still, im a sucker for black customs especially the ones with 3 humbuckers \m/

They're pretty much chalk and cheese so alot depends if you prefer the customs over standards. never played a Tokai but they seem to have a good rep.

The Orville is probably bottom of the range in customs being a black K orville and overpriced for what you'd get from using YJ. UIta's said the K orvilles can be pretty much hit and miss and electrics won't be up to much and considering he's probably got about 3 of every Orville model made I'd take his word for it :)

Hah! I saw that same Orville custom and it got me to thinking about ditching my Gibson studio model for a MIJ custom.

The more that I look at the Tokai, the more I want it. Only thing is, it doesnt come with a hardshell case.

Being an ObG owner, I am partial to those but that Tokai sure looks like the one I would go for. Cases can be had on the cheap so I wouldn't let that hinder your decision making process.

But in this particular case we're talking about a K series Orville :)
