Okay.... I was going to post this over at the TokaiForum.... But I lost my mind and forgot my password.

So I am hoping I might be able to get some opinions here.

When was this headstock logo used for the Tokai Custom??

A gentleman claims 1985. But I believe I may have also seen this logo used for 1990's Greco Custom models made by Tokai. Thanks for your comments. Josh

I suspect those are Cort made Tokais?
I have a few pics I have saved of these exact models.
They have the typical Cort/Fujigen mash period late 80's split inlays.

But the Tokai and Cort early 90's Greco Customs have totally diff tenon joints from each other, udo.

I think the logos are a little diff too.

Yeah but what I was referring to is that around 88 to 91 both Fujugen and Cort made these identical Custom models.
The only way I have been able to tell then apart is the different in the fingerboard & truss cover for the most part, just by glance.
Sometimes the Greco "e" is not connected and that, to me, is a tell tale sign of a Greco Cort as well.

That same split diamond has to have some sort of correlation...no?
Here are a few more TB

My thought was that I have seen a few late 1980's and early 1990's Greco guitars that I suspected to be made by Tokai due to the square routes and the mid length tenon that extends up until the pickup cavity.

The models were stamped also with EGC-75 in the neck cavity and were fret edge bound unlike many later 1980's and early 1990's Greco guitars.

Someone posted a thread on one just like it, on the tokaiforum. It was mij, Had a 96' serial number and a regular ABR-1 bridge with small post.. The early 90's, Korean one I had, had a 2 screw TRC and the older early 80's style headstock logo, the funky one with 4 diamond shapes. The main visual diffrence was, the Korean one had a large screw post bridge and the MIJ had a regular ABR-1.

Thanks guys....

I just want to know when Tokai used this "Split" inlay for building their own guitars.

Did Tokai even make an LC-100 or thereabouts model during this period with the split Tokai logo?? Most later LC models that I have seen are LC-60 models with 14 degree headstocks, rosewood fretboards (With FEB) and polyester finishes.

So I do wonder if Tokai were producing higher end Custom models with N/C finishes, 17 degree angled headstocks and ebony fretboards(FEB) after 1985 and before 1995 ???

Another reason I ask is because...... The model that i showed appears to be ebony for the fretboard. But it could infact be darker rosewood...

However. I do not know if Tokai was producing another Custom models aside the TLC"60" model and perhaps a "75" models they were using for Greco Custom models??

Here is another shot.
