I started a thread in the Gibson Les Pauls area asking about the markings inside the PU cavities on my 2001 LP Std.

http://www.mylespaul.com/forums/gibson-les-pauls/124057-les-paul-production-markings.html

I was told there that the pickups on my LP appear to be a Tim Shaw in the neck and a BB-Pro in the bridge position. A forum member said "gibson did a reissue in the 2000s era special order..." Anybody here in this specialized forum know anything about this?

There are pictures of the markings - it appears to say SH in the neck cavity - and the bottom of the pickups at the link above.

Thanks in advance for any information on this.

Just a couple of quick observations -- neither pickup looks like a Shaw to me, and the Gibson USA pickup looks to have a non-original cover. These were probably removed from a guitar at some point, and the person removing them marked the pickups as "N" and "B"... I've seen it done many times, often at the customer's request.

So can anyone help me identify these PU in my '01 LP Std?

Not sure what the norm would be on an '01 Std, but seems likely that one or both of these are non-original.

Neck looks like a Classic or a Burstbucker - check the resistance reading, from the wax around the join I'm thinking 57 Classic. I know some BBs had this too, but for some reason I think it's a Classic

The bit of magnet showing through the "spare" lead hole on the bridge pickup would be consistent with a 500T. Does a 498 have the extra magnets? Not sure. Cover has been fitted after, probably to a pickup that was originally uncovered.

Not sure what pickups were in an 01 Standard as standard, but not them.
