Ticks

Hey, I just went for a walk in our woods, and I came back had four ticks on my legs. I killed two, by flushing them down the toilet, but the other two I kinda freaked out about, and accidentally flipped them on my carpet, which is brown. So I can't find them. Anyone know how long ticks will last without food? Also is there a chance they will get back on me while I sleep? (Same room as where I lost them) I am very unfamiliar with ticks, and they are probably my least favorite of any insect/animal.

Boles, I can never tell if you are being serious I will just wake up, and take a shower and make sure I have none. Unless they burrow into your skin after 8 hours

I'm being serious. Ticks seek out the carbon dioxide that their hosts breathe out. That mainly how they find you. They WILL find you again. They don't go all the way into your skin, only their tiny little heads do.

I hate the little bastards,currently have a nice round scab on my right forearm where I stubbed out a cigarette on a particularly tough one last saturday after mowing my lot

For expert tick removal, you will need alcohol (whiskey?), a towel, a lighter and a pair of needle nose pliers. First, down the whiskey. Wait 13 minutes. Next take the towel and roll it up, put it in your mouth and bite down. Light the lighter and keep it lit for one minute. Put the flame out. Stick the metal end to the tick and burn the living crap out of it. Smash the tick's body, leave the blood, it intimidates other ticks. Extract tick, head and all, using the pliers.

Finally, find more whiskey.

Remember to pull them slowly out. Do not use a cig, vasoline, or anything else other than slowly pulling them out with tweezers. If you do anything else they will throw up inside you and might cause infection. Make sure you get the head out. Then either put in a plastic bag to get tested or exucute them and put it on display for all thier friends to see.

I used to put flies on toothpicks and put them on the lawn.

after what happened in '02(Lymes disease,but the Drs werent allowed to officially call it Lymes,so,"Lymes-like" illness it was,and it really fooked me up ...bad)...the quicker they are removed the better

Too damn paranoid about crap like this. I've been thinking about sleeping in the living room I've been looking with a really good flashlight, and though I saw one, but it was actually just another dead bug...

How long does it take for ticks to suck your blood? Is it just a quick bite or do they stay attached for a while? Because the ones I found were all moving.

once they bite they just sit there and suck, Then they swell up with blood. If they are on you for a while youll see a big grey swollen looking thing hanging off you.

Especially if they are hanging from your balzac. In the event that they start sucking the blood from there, be very, very careful. You don't want to walk into the emergency room either with two tick heads stuck to your balls or bleeding like mad because you missed the tick head with the tweezers and clipped an artery there. No worries. It'll be fine.
