I went to see one of my guitar heroes last week.

Eric Clapton 70th Birthday Tour.
Had row 11 seats at the RAH. He did plenty of his own numbers plus a few Blues thrown in for good measure. Nothing from the Beano Album unfortunately.

He played two Strats and an Accoustic, no Gibsons (boooo!)

Outstanding tone and playing. He has a great band.

A few pics

Pretty much the only person I haven't seen that I want to. Very lucky for you. Totally envious.

Behind Koss my second favorite player ever. I listen to the live cut of lawdy mama from late 66 i think w cream at least 4 times daily. His breaks in that cut are rock guitar to me. I wish he mixed minor and major scales the way he did w mayell and cream. But he's still the man. I hate how these friggin ingrates bash him on these forums. Stupidity shining if u ask me. RESPECT boys and girls. RESPECT.

I saw Clapton and Beck on a double-bill a few years ago. If only I could see Page now, I would be complete.

I've seen EC a bunch of times, dating back to around 1980. The best show was with Albert Lee. They both were great, but Lee was clearly better, that night.

Many years later, I saw EC in Syracuse (Nathan East had joined him, by then) and then bumped in to him at Amrani in NYC and again on Madison Ave, a few days later. I guess he didn't want to hand out in Syracuse...

Didn't he retire last year after a series of poor shows, saying he was all done?

No.

I was at the Royal Albert Hall on the 17th; Christmas present. :thumb: As always, there are no photos.

to be honest, his playing on the night was not the best I have ever seen him play, but i didn't really care. The experience was incredible.

I thought there was a series of poor shows, and after one was cut short, he announced he was done touring.

He cut one gig a few minutes short because of PA problems. However, he has announced that his touring days are all but over, and I feel this series of concerts are going to be his last.

He reportedly left the stage at the RAH on the last night of the run with the words: "See you down the road somewhere."
