Nicest guitar I've ever owned, nicest guitar I've ever played. Now priced to high for my blood. The gas is gone.
If you save a company, that counts for absolutely nothing if you drive it straight back into the ground. Which he's done. Gibson can't make a set of pickups worth dick anymore. One of the last good pickups they made that wasn't custom shop only was basically a T-Top (the 490r/t). I'm not going to pay 2k for a guitar that doesn't even have good quality electronics, let alone good fit and finish. When I go to Guitar Center to stock up on strings, I never bother to pick a Gibson off the wall anymore. I know that I won't like it.
I go home and play mine, or play someone's older model, chances are it's a guitar that I really like.
When it comes down to it, I think Henry has lost the soul of the company in pursuit of being personally notable as the innovator at Gibson. But he's not. It's not innovation if the market isn't asking for it - before or after you make it. He doesn't listen to players. And he lacks the actual vision to create a market, like he's been trying to. All the fancy stuff and the signature models, it's schlock. And with every great new thing, he's just devaluing what we've already paid for. Screw him.

I say old bean, you're a bit late to the party, what!?
Vasco's been 'endorsing' Gibsons since October 1970...

and specifically Les Pauls since March 1973...
Baked Maple. There, I said it and I mean it. I like it.
Were the amps a lot bigger back then, or were we all just smaller?![]()
It's called 'perspective', Steve...!
And that particular set-up was f*ckin' big!
1960 & 1960B 4x12 cabs, with a 100w 1959 head on top.

How do you know current Gibson products suck if you don't own or play them? You just stated you don't bother playing new Gibsons. What would you know about their current pickups? I thought you were broke, so why are you criticizing stuff you can't evaluate? Bullshit post...
Thanks to him I no longer have any desire to spend money on new Gibsons, so I now have money for things like food and paying rent! No, I won't get in your big van, not even if you say you have lots of nice guitars in there.

I can't stand the '57 classics or burstbucker pros. The BB1/2 sets are good in the right guitar, but still, I'm not crazy about them. I hated the ceramics they put in the Les Paul Classic. Way too hot.
