Hey guys!
I'm new here, but I wanted to do something fun.
A share of interesting\unusual tops on a Les Paul or any other model!
I'll start, my Gibson Les Paul Standard 2019 in Iced Tea has a kind of a "monster" flame that fades into a plain top with big rings at the knobs area:

I wouldn’t consider yours that unusual.

My 2014 R8 is a bit unusual as it was sold as a “plain” top.

It has a heavy “claw” type top

With beauty marks flecks and streaks

Dark claw marks

With a lot of grain patterns underneath

Bit of an ugly duckling but highly recognizable.

Best part is ..... it’s a tone monster that has only gotten better with time.

(I sticked with the "duck" term 'cause she's really yellow like a duck haha)

Here’s my ‘02 Standard which I bought new 18 years ago, the early 00’s Pauls had some really cool/unique tops...loads of mineral streaks and peek a boo flame which isn’t always present, depends on the lighting.

What a beaut. I love plaintops. I'd take a plaintop R8 over a flametop R9 anyday. My R8 has quite a bit of flame too. Enjoy your ugly duckling!

Gibson has been calling fame top R8s "plain tops" since Gibson started offering flame top R8s again in 2010.
