Hello all,

Can anyone share opinions and info on these Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Standard models?

Specifically, does it have a mahogany or maple top? How does it play in comparison with say a Gibson Studio? What should a used one typically sell for?

Here is a picture and a couple links below it to the specific model I'm talking about:

The links you posted state that it has a mahogany top, and the picture bears that out.

I can't help with the other questions; I don't think this one has made it to America.

Actually, the two links differ on the body top. One says mahogany and the other says maple cap. Hence my confusion.

I found someone selling one locally on craigslist and was thinking about it.

I passed up one at the local music store 2 years ago. I kick myself all the time, the guitar felt nice and looked great.

that guitar looks awesome. And very macho.

I like it. It almost has a Telecaster/No Bullsh*t vibe. Very cool.

So do I!

I'm about to buy my first electric guitar. And I absolutely love this worn brown Standard.

So "Monkmiles"... did you get it? :)

Hello Everyone

I would buy the Gibson studio in the worn or satin finishes before buying that one.

the gibson studio from a few years ago had burstbuckers in it, and it wasn't weight reduced like the new ones.

you can get the gibson studio version used for $400 - $600, which in my opinion is a better deal.

certain ones had burstbuckers, a lot of them had the 490's in them.

just a thought

take care
George

yeah, well... a Gibson is a little over my league :) - so I will settle for a Epi LP Standard... But do I pick a WB or a HB???... uuhhh! the choice is hard.

I just picked up the epi studio version in this color and just love it. Very rich looking. Mine is mahogany with dot inlays. Has sustain for days. Can hit a harmonic... go make a coffee and it is still chiming when i get back. Should have a pic up shortly. I am only gonna show one here so i am not high jacking someone else's thread.

Well, this is an old thread. I didn't get it, it was already sold when I contacted the guy via Craigslist.

I do have a 2006 Gibson LP Studio in worn brown Vintage Mahogany now. As well as the 50s Tribute LP Studio w/humbuckers.

I have this guitar, and I just love how it looks. Never fails to be a conversation piece among musicians I meet, as it is not a common LP finish.

Yep... I scored my epi studio worn brown for only $200 on craigslist and people talk about the color alot... like it is a special edition. They talk more about that finish than my copperburst tele.

Sounds like you did just fine though.

Well, I already had the Gibson LP Studio Vintage Mahogany at the time and was considering this as a backup. Then recently I got a good deal on the 50s Tribute Studio...and that has become my main rock guitar.
