Thomann, Europeans biggest music-retailer is no more listed as a Gibson Dealer at gibson.com
no more listed as 'International Online Distributor' as well...:hmm:

Anybody have any insights ?

They sold 1000s of Gibsons.....

Does that mean they're gonna be selling off their Gibson stock? And to be honest, I don't blame them if they have jumped ship.

I've returned two Gibsons to them because of shoddy workmanship
Im not surprised
It could also be over their Harley Benton guitars the L 450 plus is identical to my Gibson apart from the headstock

They are making the smart move to get off the sinking ship called Henry. When/if they return to sanity, Gibson will be happy to take back such a huge distributor.

I`ve met Paul Reed Smith there yesterday at the Sommerfest (he was playing with the Thomann Band). Maybe he has worked something out with Hans :)

Actually I don`t think so. They still have hundreds of Gibsons in Stock.

Paul was so nice to sign my second Tremonti and my stupid pen spilled silver metallic lacquer over his hands, just 15 minutes before he started playing.
I was so embarrassed, but Paul stayed nice and polite.

Details are key. It could be a typo. It also does not mean Thomann was in the driver's seat of whatever decisions were made. I can't imagine it would be in any guitar stores best interest to not carry Gibson guitars.

Why not, especially when there are so many great choices out there? So many companies are putting out dynamite guitars at more reasonable prices. Gibson (more specifically, Henry + his a$$-ki$$ers) are doing this to themselves.

As long as craigslist keeps selling older Gibbys, I'm happy.

Might have to do with "Territory" agreement.

I have a vague impression I read something about them selling
"over the World" and they weren't supposed to.
If that was the case, I would be much surprised that they and Gibson couldn't come to some kind of an understanding for future business.

Yes, Gibson is plagued by many things right now but the brand is still "big" for a distributor.

The brand s only "big" if people actualy want to (or can afford to) buy them.

As of 2015, Gibsons are not "desired" with the price hikes and goofy sh*t

I was referring to "the brand" in general, not the 2015 year models.
If 2016 and beyond shows R&D and Henry have learned a few lessons,
2015 will eventually be a bump on the road.

Got my answer

They still could not find an agreement on the actual
Paperwork, which has to be done every year
to continue the deal,
It can be found tomorrow or not,
Who knows....

They still have tons of Gibsons
and can leglly sell them

Pete, Thomann is trying to save face and they're still hoping to sign a deal sooner rather than later.

They haven't been able to reach an agreement on the 2015 Custom Shop line, because Gibson was pushing them for even more 2015 USA models.

Maybe Thomann is ok for now re Gibson Custom Shop models from 2014 and simply waiting for the 2016 USA line launch before they will sign another deal?

The guy that runs my local guitar shop told me a month ago that Gibson pulled the plug as Thomann had breached a term of the agreement between them. :hmm:

This is exactly what I've heard from our local shop as well.
