So what I thought was a fever due to cold took a nasty turn yesterday when my lower right leg turned red and inflamed... A trip to the Dr. today tells me I have cellulitis (severe infection of the skin)... the good news is that it wasn't a blood clot (thanks to WebMD.com I was fairly certain that's what I had since the the symptoms are similar). Anyway, the bad news is that I'm pretty much stuck in bed with a very sore leg taking antibiotics, etc. I go back to the Dr. on Friday to see if it is getting any better... otherwise I could end up in the hospital. I've already had to get a substitute for playing at church this week. The Orlando Guitar Show is only a week away... hopefully I've be able to walk on the leg without pain before then.
OK, enough whinning... I know I'm pretty lucky is wasn't something worse. I think I'm just going a little nuts being stuck in bed with my foot up and the pain.

Cellulitis is a skin infection caused by bacteria (usually strep or staph). If it is not treated with antibiotics, the infection can spread to the blood or lymph nodes. If the infection is mild, you may be able to take antibiotic pills at home. If the infection is severe, you may need to be treated in the hospital with antibiotics that go right into your bloodstream. It is very important to get treatment right away for cellulitis. If it is not treated, the bacteria can spread quickly through the body and cause sepsis, an extreme response by the body’s defense system. This can be deadly. Cellulitis can also cause other serious problems, such as blood clots in the legs. For cellulitis of the leg or arm, treatment also includes elevating the limb to reduce swelling.
