This caught my eye on the regional craigslist. I used to own one. To me it seems way too high for what's been changed, added, and repaired.

What do you think?

I own a few headstock repairs.

that headstock repair is equisite….as perfect as u could hope for that beak imho

i don’t know much about elegants except they have badass tops normally…most I’ve seen go for $4k and up iirc

id offer him $2900 if I loved playing it personally…

I don’t mind headstock repairs because I never plan on selling anything…
But I imagine they are not easy to sell…

id lean into that reality and try to get it cheaper if it were me

There’s one on Reverb right now for $3999 with no breaks or strap pin relocations.

It seems $1000 over priced to me. $2500 seems about right to me for a guitar like that with a headstock repair -- assuming all stock and in great condition. Man, the owner must have been sick when that headstock first broke. That being said, all the Gibsons on my local CL are expensive too with no deals any time I look.

Telling a prospective guitar buyer that it has a repaired headstock is like telling your new date that you have herpes...

Lol, um no. That price is way high. I wouldn’t pay more than half the going “unbroken value“ for any headstock repair no matter how well it‘s been done. If it doesn’t turn out to be a keeper, your resale market is seriously reduced.

As others have said, I would pass.

If it was a Firemist, I'd still pass but I'd cry as well.

I would offer $2900 for it like other's have said. A headstock repair is fine if done right and looks to be done right. Save $1000 compared to the one on Reverb. Although, if you really want one, that Tangerine Burst is nice. I do like the Locking Kluson tuners on the lower priced one though, very sweet.

Hard to believe cracked headstocks are pulling so high
I’d never pay more than $500 for one even at today’s pricing

Then again I wouldn’t buy one to begin with
You can get a nonbroken one for that price

Just keep lookin
