I don’t think it’s fake. I’m just wondering if the headstock has been doctored. No COA, though

I don't think it was doctored. I think it's a QC issue. Looking at the headstocks of the two guitars, it appears as though a grain sealer coat wasn't applied on the first guitar before the black paint was applied, hence the grain pattern shows through very obviously, as opposed to the second guitar, where the paint is much smoother, though you can make out the grain through the paint.

Juniors don't come with a holly veneer if they are historic spec. Many of the USA models have the plastic veneer.

Generally, the veneer is used to install the MOP "Gibson" inlay. There is no reason to use it with the gold silkscreened logo.

What interests me more is the placement of the "Les Paul Junior". I'd like to see more of the guitar

The ad says « there is no case candy »... really ? Honestly there are a lot of beautiful LPJs out there that don’t need to be issued from the CS or whatever History... Check out MiJ from the late 80s
I mean @ decent prices, otherwise there are still real 50s out there but not the same price

Neither the original 1950's Juniors nor the Historic Reissues have a Holly veneer on the headstock. The grain does seem to be more pronounced on the subject headstock, but we all know Gibson's quality control does vary. My guess is that the lighting probably makes it worse than it appears in the photo.

Here are a couple of other Historic Juniors for reference:

The photos below are all of the headstock of my 2010 SC Historic Junior:

To my point of view the previous owner has sprayed some amber clearcoat on the headstock ! Pretty sure of that:) that would explain the orange peel look and the reddish Gibson logo !
( had done that on a Gibson copy but my result was a lot better ... BTW, its sold! Means it was not for you. You'll find a better looking one! This one was quite strange and ugly to me...
