Well I am not sure but this SG has been auctioned like 9 times in the last 4 months with no set reserve so the owner must be the winning bidder every time!

Here is the last auction that "someone" won AGAIN! (This was like the 8th time this guy listed it, (I had the other listings saved in my ebay. So I sent him a message and mentioned I noticed that he keeps having winning bidders but he keeps listing the guitar and maybe he should quit outbidding himself. I told him I would take it off his hands for $100! Of course he told me he blocked me from his auctions! I don't think he liked my offer!)

Here it is listed for the 9th time!

He's probably got two EBay accounts, and he's selling from one and using the other as his "safety" to ensure items don't sell for less than he wants to get. I guess it's more attractive to say "no reserve," but obviously he has one in his head that he won't sell below.

It's lame, but probably not uncommon.

Its costing him the seller fees for each transaction. maybe he's trying to load the selling price until folks think they are going up and it finally sells for a premium? Ebay may not care, as it pays them the same, unless its reported - shill bidding is not allowed.

If I watch something on ebay that's listed I will see what it goes for, and I will save it in my list until 2 months later, just to see if it pops back up from the same seller!

The first time I saw that SG on auction and someone "won" it, then the following week later I saw it listed again. I sent the seller an message inquiring about it and of course he said the guy in Canada, (who was the winner for the auction), (something with the import/customs fee, (I don't exactly remember, but I know that was BS!), but they agreed, (according to seller), to not go through with the transaction and he relisted the guitar!

Same seller for the last 9 auctions that I have seen it!

Definitely tells a tale of someone putting in a bid, and his other accounts, or family/friends bidding on it to get a high win on it in hopes someone would pay more than what it's worth!

Who knows, but it does raise red flags!

I dont understand - why would you keep paying the fee for selling to yourself?

Doesnt Ebay charge a final value fee based on the sale price these days (honestly, dropped them years ago due to so many problems - so no idea) ?

Sure, you can report the bidder failed to pay...but after 5 or so, wouldnt the system auto ban you from participating in sales...of course Ebay has nothing to lose and everything to gain from sellers running up their sales prices..

Could be that he is sending an email to ebay stating the winning bidder didn't pay or canceled the auction under some sort of lame excuse. So if the sale doesn't go through, then ebay can't charge the fees!

shill bidding is illegal. He's just trying to get more for it. If he just raised the reserve on it, or put a higher start price...He's fishing.

shill bidding is specifically noted in ebays' seller agreement as prohibited.
