OK, let's hear from you folks. Name some covers that are just . . . wrong! Not because they didn't do them note-for-note from the originals (I never cared two rat's asses about note-for-note covers and, indeed, prefer to hear anything but note-for-note covers and I don't give four rat's asses how iconic the song might be!) or the biggest earlier hit versions, but because they're just . . . wrong!

I thought it might have been the Sandpipers noticing how the bridge of "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" uses the same chords as "Louie, Louie" and decided, Cha-ching! Let's see how "Louie, Louie" would sound with one of those slow and drippy a Wall of Sound productions!"

Then I realised---they probably weren't that clever, they were just three guys with a penchant for turning whatever they touched (usually folk music, but not exclusively) into music for the anesthesiologist's office . . .
