Go for it. I think your offer is in line with its value, but I have a my doubts whether a "vintage dealer" (I don't know this person/shop so please don't read this as a negative)
will take $1500 less. Privately, with cash in hand, more likely, IMHO.

Thanks! Just making sure I wasn't going to "low ball" them. The most I'll go is $5000.

Perhaps, if you tell him that you are Animal Chin, it will help the negotiation? :hmm: I didn't realize the search was over...

... I realize some of you may not get that... but I assume the OP will. :)

Animal Chin is actually a distant relative. The search is still ongoing.....

You'd think that a "vintage dealer" would at least be able to post clear photos. I will email them to get better pics.

This is a vintage dealer with not too much vintage, and he's located in Canada. With a low inventory, and being outside the US, he may not have much inclination to deal.

This guitar looks good, seems to be original (pickguard is shinier than normal), and does not have major worming or finish lift on the underside. Non-original case and fret wear could be negotiating points. I'd give it an 8/10, and be satisfied to get 12% off.

The dealer has another vintage Junior up for sale.

1955 VINTAGE GIBSON LES PAUL JUNIOR WITH ORIGINAL ALIGATOR CASE | guitars | Calgary | Kijiji

He seems to be fixated around the $6K (CDN) mark, but he says he is willing to negotiate.
