Thinking I want an Epi LPC

Have been hankering for a Gibson LPC in the classic Ebony finish to go along with my 2010 LPC Silverburst (also Gibson) for quite a while now, but just having a hard time justifying the cost and pulling the trigger... this time... for some reason!

I have 4 LPs currently, all Gibsons, so I certainly don’t have a problem with spending money, ha!, but have owned my share of Epi LPs as well, including a 2012 LPC—which I really liked, but it had the rosewood fretboard, and I could just never get happy about that, so I eventually got rid of it.

Anyway, not really looking for affirmation and encouragement to buy one, ha! This is an Epi forum, I get it! More looking for folks who have one of the newer (post 2019) ones and can give me any dirt on them (ie, things to be aware of and/or reasons not to buy). Again, I get it, this is an Epi forum and I’m far more likely to get affirmation than not, but just in case there is anyone out there with intel and/or experience to the contrary, I’d like to hear it! Thx!

Buying guitars are not like buying cars. I have 14 guitars. Each one made by man and machine. Problems that happen are mostly fixable except grain flaws, paint and on LP bent neck. Are you interested in electronics or neck style or pickups. I've never had a guitar that crumbled in my hands. I've had a turner not hold tune a scratchy pickup switch and a weak feeling volume knob. Really unless you can't go to a store and hold, touch, play and feel the weight it's a matter of taste. I like mine, it can play Led Zeppelin 's The Rover

I had a 2005 Epi LPC that I got in a trade with a young guy that was a tech at GC. The fit and finish of the guitar was terrible. But I’m not exaggerating when I say that the kid had set the guitar up so well that it was w/o a doubt the best playing LP that I’ve ever owned. That includes Custom Shop Gibsons. He said it took a lot of fret leveling, neck straightening, nut/saddle filing, etc. But once done…wow.

I can say in black, the standard 50s is a great deal. Longneck tenon, great pickups.
The ultimate is the 59 kit now in many colours unlike when I got mine. Again the 50s is a great guitar.

I purchased one and ended up selling it off once I got the JC Les Paul Custom 'Wino', which has a Slim Taper neck a little bit thicker than the regular Epiphone LPC. I had Sweetwater Plek the LPC upon purchase and it came perfectly setup and ready to play once I received it. This was definitely a top-notch guitar, perfect intonation and setup. But after playing the new Standard 60's necks and the Joe B. 59 Lazarus, I found that the really Slim Taper necks like on the LPC, I just really like my necks just a little bit thicker.

Post-2019 only? If you see an "Inspired By 1955" Custom up for grabs, give it a try if possible. I forget the less desirable headstock when i play mine

I had one of those Joe Bo 58 Black Beauty LP Customs, but the 58 neck was just a little bit too big for me to fully like it, so I sold it off. But I do like the Joe Bo 59 Lazarus, where the 59 neck is right at that borderline and the biggest I like a neck to be.

I'd say try one out. I had a 3 pickup Epi Les Paul Custom that I foolishly sold a few years back. It felt really good and sounded great - was an older model I forget the year. Never did find another one, so after much trading I ended up with this to replace it.

I own a bunch of Gibson Les Pauls including custom shop, I also have a recent Epi Custom. It sounds and looks like a Custom, def. scratches my Custom itch without having to cough up $5000+ for the Gibson version. Don't get me wrong, I’d love to pick up a Gibson Custom sometime, but I’d say at $729 the Epi is a comparative bargain.

I'd say try one out. I had a 3 pickup Epi Les Paul Custom that I foolishly sold a few years back. It felt really good and sounded great - was an older model I forget the year. Never did find another one, so after much trading I ended up with this to replace it.

I'm seeing a lot of affirmation here... hahaha!!!!!!!

So basically, no one has noticed any real issues or shortcomings with their ELPCs as compared to a GLPC? That's good. I mean, I know there are differences between the two, but like I said, I've owned my fair share of Epis (and still have some, though not any LPs at this time) and I've always had good experiences with them so I'm not expecting anything tragically negative... but just wanted to check!

I don't own one , but the reason I don't ......... Don't like the Ebony Fretboard ....... Don't like the "Gold " hardware . Absolutely abhor the binding , but otherwise it seems to be a great guitar .

Have a 2020 in Ebony.

Neck reminds me of a 60s Gibson.

I thought I would absolutely need to change out the pickups, but they sound really good. Has Orange drop capacitors and CTS potentiometers from the factory.

Stays in tune for weeks after sitting in its case.

Fit and finish are excellent. Overall a fantastic easy playing guitar.

Great value.
