I'm still kicking myself for not paying attention when that MF blowout deal came along over the summer. Alas, by the time I got wind of it they were sold out.

Yes, they're awesome guitars. I had a natural blonde Maple/ebony-fb 1978 RD Standard, and it was my main guitar for over 10 years. I kept it bone stock because I never knew anything about modding (until I found this site). They're a bit heavy (mine was about 11lbs), but very well balanced when worn. Tone is thick/chunky, but plenty of clear highs and mids. Definitely brighter than the Mahogany Explorer I had.

I stupidly Ebayed it back in 2005 and only got like $650 for it. It was one of the best playing, most balanced guitars I've ever picked up.

Yeah they are nice and I can see them being the subject of a full blown reissue into a full time model again
