probably just needs a carb rebuild and tuneup,still a nice car,and if i didnt have my camaro i might have been looking at it.its just the joys of classic car ownership...

It really is, im just very pissed off at it right now.........

I can't advise you as I don't know your mechanical ability or your price range for a replacement. I can say that a 79 GM car will require some mechanical ability. If you have a fairly high price range ($50K+) I could recommend some cars that are faster, get better mileage, have more hauling space, and some have AWD.

FWIW,if i bought it i would "ruin"it as one of my buds has a 455 engine ready to bolt in,could probably find an old GTO carb for it too.same guy built my 400 back in the early 2000s and it was a beast.

Looks like the timing chain "jumped".


Doesnt look like any damage was done. Having a new one installed......cant wait to sell it and move on.

If your timing chain jumped, be sure to replace the ttesion pulley. That part is vert often the cause of this problem.
