Update. Last night's texts continue to say she wants the dogs to go back and forth. I chatted with my daughters about the likelihood I will just tell her to keep both dogs today.

I guess I don't have to though because this morning's text says she will not return the dog without a court order.

IMO pets are family members but they are the family members that are not people. They are also typically the first family members to teach us about how to deal with loss of a loved one at an early age. At 47 I have learned how to accept the loss of many pets in one way or another.

Both our dogs are street rescues and I feel like there is a near endless supply of those.

Edit. Both dogs are total sweethearts. The other dog is very very bonded with she who shall remain nameless.

This dog loves everyone fairly equally but shows a slight preference for myself. She spends much of her time gazing at me. Lol. It's very cute/flattering even if she isn't human.

I can't participate in this or M&M's thread. My married life was different. However, I love dogs and I just love the drums.

I've seen behind the scenes docs on sports teams when a player gets traded. It is awkward because the team concept that was so ingrained, is instantly over. It's like, "Don't let the door hit you on the way out."

It is difficult and does kinda go against human nature; but it's the right approach.
