Affect vs Effect

Affect is normally a verb.
Effect is normally a noun.

So your pedal board has effect pedals, that affect the guitar's sound.
That's how I always remembered it back in school and ever since.

Although there are exceptions--as in you can try to effect change.
And there is a psychological use of affect as a noun

I find this amusing. Most of us guys who have a first language different than english write way better than lots of guys from the US and UK (especially from the US).

Doesn't come as a surprise though, as I've been witness to lots of local idiots who seem to just be f_cking incapable of learning the F_king language.

Sometimes I don't know what some kids or even adults are talking about, they cannot put the right nouns, verbs, adjectives and/or anything else together. Feels like having a conversation with f_ucking Yoda... in klingon!

then either English is not their first language, or they just didn't learn this stuff at primary school. In the latter case, I am not being paid enough to be somebody's interwebz grammar nanny. You get to appear in public as an ignorant for free.

It's generally accepted that the average American reads on about the 7th grade level. That's not the end of the world, IMO.

What I do find odd is how often people would choose being defensive than simply accept correction and knowing better nest time around. For example: there really is a difference between "your an idiot" and "you're an idiot". Sure... we know what you meant, but shouldn't someone essentially claiming superiority at least do so in a manner that doesn't make them look ignorant?

We can not all be geniuses like some of our members from down under. But then not all of us are quite as pompous either.
