I can buy a new guitar. Ideally i'd like a Les Paul Standard, but, as i don't ACTUALLY live in Cloud Cuckoo land i'm keeping my options on the "cheaper" side of things.
I've got a bit of a soft spot for Tokai Love Rock's, and would LOVE one of the Japanese builds, but looking around at the Japanese makers Chinese output I've noticed a few Burny's that look interesting, specifically the RLC-55JS and the RLC-60P.
Has anybody tried these out or can point me to a decent video review.

I have pondered buying direct from Japan (Ishibashi) but, really can't trust myself.

Any help will be gratefully appreciated.

Jim.

Tokai Japan is a great choice. I'm constantly on edge of buying a p90 gold top. I don't know if they have videos, but I played a good number of them in person recently and the Japanese offerings are every bit as good as the standard Gibson USA line.

Rose Morris on Denmark Street in London is an international Tokai Japan dealer. I can't recommend them enough.

I am often tempted to replace my Gibsons with Tokais. The one that I have is excellent.

Sub $1000 MIK model.

Oh you bugger. "Luckily" there's a Tokai dealer not far from me, TR Music in Walsall. I've played their stock a couple of times and they've all played nicely. Obviously the high end stuff is REALLY nice but waaaay out of my price range. In fact I brought both of my existing guitars from them, Les Paul Tribute & a G5222 Electromatic, and would like to keep it local, but I'm not getting on with the Gretsch and that's got to go towards the purchase as and when I sell it.
I'm thinking of driving up to Hot Rox in Nottingham one weekend to try out the Burny's (and chat valves) and might take the wife shopping as well.

What type of Les Paul Standard do you like? 50 or 60 style neck?

My Tribute has a 60's neck if I remember correctly and is really comfortable, the Gretsch has a bigger, differently shaped neck, but is no less comfortable.
I don't think I've played a 50's neck, but I could be wrong.

I have a 2008 Edwards Jimmy Page Les Paul up for sale in the classified section

https://www.mylespaul.com/threads/f...lbs-very-light-obo-or-offers-welcomed.473973/

I compared the neck measurement to Jimmy's #1 and was similar

Link to comparison along with my reply https://www.mylespaul.com/threads/jimmy-page-“number-one”-custom-authentic-price.468632/post-10374402

Neck is 60's style but not exact if that makes any sense. Navigator Les Paul are really good but are considered more high end.

Will have a look when I get back from work ( cause porn right ) but I’m in the UK so I’m keeping things this side .

Cheers though

Another thumbs up for Edwards (and P90s).
This one is lightweight, is very well built and has an ebony board. It’s about 90% of a Historic Custom model I had with staple neck pickup but a fourth of the price. More than scratches that itch.
