Even if it's a setup... so what. She's probably been terrorizing the neighborhood kids, and they got sick of it and needed proof. They got it. The asshole gets to go to jail for a night and think about her life choices and spend the next few months worrying if she'll have to go to jail for an extended stay.

I'd also be inclined to try to get a restraining order if she isn't contrite. She'd have to move out of her own house.
