For every, "I made a killing on XYZ stock," there are hundreds of, "it was doing so fucking great, then..." stories.
Diversity! I admit to being way over exposed to tech but I'm pretty diverse.

Betting the house on one stock - stupid.

Phizer or Moderna might be good investments. Hear they have a product likely to be pretty popular soon

That's my "fun money" portfolio. I actively manage it. I still have about 40% cash. Waiting to pounce. I've taken profits in every single name along the way. The top 13 or so are now the "houses money". Meaning I've cashed out my initial investment.

Listen to Steve. He's been there and is offering top notch advice. I'm in the business. I'm not allowed to give investment advice.

Like any other bet. Only bet what you can afford to lose. If you're the type of person who can't handle losses or big swings. You're better off letting a pro manage your money. Not everyone can stomach trading/investing. Never fall in love with a name. Don't worry about where they've been. Focus on where they're going. TAKE PROFITS. Even if that means closing out a position. You can start over in other names or re-initiate positions. You can literally do that forever. Diversify! It's easier to make 20% on 5 names than it is to make 100% on 1 name.

Finally, try to have fun. :laugh2:

When stock trading threads start popping up in guitar forums, it's time to get out. Supposedly, Joseph P. Kennedy (1888-1969) knew that it was time to get out of the market in 1929 when his shoeshine boy began giving him stock tips.

I've avoided stocks my entire life. This spring when things tanked I thought it would be fun to invest some play money. This is not my retirement plan, just a game. So far, so good.

Funny how everyone says they're doing well when the news is all doom and gloom and "everything is the worst" :laugh2:

I guess they just love promoting misery

i guess the people who short stocks make a lot of money fast when things come crashing down.
i still don't understand the concept, but it makes me sick if i think too much about it.

The Market is a pizza shite. When you can buy a slice of a stock, it's a sure sign of tulip sniffing.

TAKE PROFITS.
This is probably my biggest weakness. So you don't subscribe to the "never sell" approach? Some of these stocks are looking at 2500% over 5 years...like nvda. Imagine selling in 2018 on that huge dip ya know. Still trying to navigate this idea myself.

I can't imagine the people struggling have enough extra income to worry about stocks

Putting $100 into some stocks 6 months ago turned into $500.

Putting $100 into amazon 6 months ago youd be at $160. Or microsoft. Apple, facebook, twitter, snapchat, AMD, NVDA.

Even if you just dropped $100 in s&p 6 months ago youre up 20% to $120.

Anyone can play.

Just sayin...

I mean, yeah, those are all "winning" examples. What's that saying about hindsight again? :hmm:

To people truly struggling $100 can mean being late on rent or not, groceries for the month or not, etc.

My point eluded you. I was simply saying almost anyone can get into this for as little to start as $50 and invest in any of their favorite companies.
