The rarest Les Pauls

checking in google is interesting the amount of forgotten Les Pauls that nobody liked, or simply were discontinued... some are not good loking but otrhers in fact are gems... which ones are the rarest les pauls you know?

also known as the gaybson... I´m not homophobic, in fact it´s known like that.

I love these copper tops. I think they could be upgraded. And finally, one of the rare les Pauls That I like most...

The candy apple blue of bonamassa. Looks black from far. Very unique.

The rarest Les Pauls I know about are the 9 LP Standards that were built and shipped in 1972. Thats right, they made 9 in 1972 with consecutive serial numbers. They came with black pickup rings on a sunburst body, fullsized Gibson embossed pickup covers and a dark cherry back.
David Bowie had one of them and you can see it in the Jean Genie promo film shot that year.

1983 Spotlight Specials - 211 total, and the very first guitar with the Custom Shop logo -even though the Custom Shop didn't really exist then, and they were made on the regular production line.

1988 Gibson Les Paul Standard 'Showcase Edition' in Silverburst. Only 200 made; extremely rare Les Paul model with factory EMG 85 pickups, all black hardware, ebony fretboard. An ebony fretboard on a Standard? That alone made this a special guitar.

Me too! That is very cool, except the gold knobs look out of place. Maybe black or custom white with black numbers!

My brother has a 1977 Les Paul Artisan. Not extremely rare, but you don't see them every day.

Not really rare though is it. 200 is a lot of guitars. If you have seen 200 guitars all lined up at once!

I believe that that was actually a deluxe. At that time you couldn't get humbuckers with cream surrounds and it was before the aftermarket had really taken off. Some of the other fittings were swapped around with Ronsons LP custom

There's always the Canadian Limited Edition "maple burst" which included a rather stange item to include as case candy. haha, only 75 made.

the pink sparkle playboy playmate of the year les paul was cool and limited of 50, I've only seen 2 of them over the years. i also saw another playboy les paul that was tran black stained maple and i haven't seen many of them either.

the hummer lester was ugly and i can't remember how many they made, and then there was the indian motor lester.

and it seem to me that i remember a lester with a pigskin football material on it for the nfl.
