+1 on the SIBLY. From personal experience.
With the boost on, through an Eminence Legend GB12 (full details at link):
Phaez SIBLY Demo 1 by DrHobbitstein on SoundCloud - Create, record and share your sounds for free
I still have to set up for a demo with the boost off, as that's how I play it, but I recorded this within the first 24 hrs of owning the amp (I've posted this before).
This amp still manages to amaze me. At practice, I use it through my rhythm guitarist's open back 1x12 with a Cannabis Rex (he uses an identical sealed 1x12 built from the same sheet mine came from, only his has a WGS Retro 30). Incredible sounding amp. Some nice bounce if you need it, but will tighten up with the boost on. I get complements at every show. I have a big one coming up in July, and should have a camera guy out there. Hope to have some video clips of the SIBLY in action.

I think there is some mic overload in the heavy parts of that clip. My preffered settings- everything at 1 or 2 oclock, the amp should be agressive but also pretty saturated, and should also clean up well.

Isn't the 18 watt rating at clean, and cranked more like 30?
saw the m75 recommendations.
Gotta watch the budget for now though

Single octal. Either 6V6, 6L6, KT66, EL34. As this would be a new 2011 design, I'd have to do some listening before deciding.

Would that be similar to the DC channel of the Blackdaisy I have? It certainly does the job!

That clips was a rush job shortly after I got the amp for those who were begging for clips. I think there were a few hard clipping spots if I remember correctly. I don't use those settings at all anymore (matter of fact, I only used those settings that day). My current settings are: Boost off, gain at 10-11 o'clock, master at 1-2 o'clock, Mids at noon, bass at 11 o'clock, and treble at 10 o'clock. Works well with my band, my leads cut through the mix like no tomorrow, and I blend in well with my rhythm guitarist. Next month we start recording. I'll post a couple tracks once we're done.

You have almost the exact settings I use on my JTM 18 +boost. My bass is down around 9 oclock though, and my mids are at 2 oclock. I use the boost at low settings. Not sure if the boost on the JTM are the same as yours though. I would think I would have to crank up the boost to get the "SIBLY" sound, since that is what gives me the more Superlead Plexi sound. I get some great Gary Moore "Still Got The Blues" singing sustain sounds with those settings, very sweet. The bass on the JTM can be really big, hence the low setting. My master at 1 or 2 oclock is definitely the sweet spot, but it is loud.

25-30 watts on up should be just fine.

The M75 is a Scumback speaker model. The "75" means the speaker has a 75hz cone in it, not the wattage. The "M" means it like an "M" series Celestion speaker...like G12 **M** But, they are clones of the old 60's pre Rola Celestions, not the ones they make today. You can get an H75, or M75 Scumback in a 30watt speaker. I run two 30 watt H75/H55 Scumback speakers in my cab for my Phaez JTM. I would go AT LEAST double the wattage of these amps, as they push probably more than double when cranked. If you are not going to crank the amp, then double would be fine...or less even, but be careful. These amps are loud, and I am sure they are pushing a lot more watts when cranked. My 60 watt cab is perfect IMO for the JTM amp.

Very interesting about this "new studio monitor" Jim. Could you expand on that a bit as per"mixing for live recordings"? As per studio monitors, do you mean some form of a powered nearfeild or passive? Reason for my interest is I'm a bit of a recordist:D

IMO Randy I'd like to see an EL34 but have it switchable like mine. 6v6, kt66/77, 6L6. It adds a great amount of versatility. And I can say that from experience :thumb: Although I don't know how much of the DC's sounds comes from the preamp, but on the f-14 the power tube totally changes the amp.

We have a few friends that do home studio recording ...one is using yamaha monitors for mixing and didn't like the results he got ...so Randy loaned him a pair of monitors I built with Randy a few years back now he likes the results he gets now....these are speakers with very flat frequency response more in the Hi FI type using very high quality drivers....because these drivers are not being manufactured today to make clones of the monitors we have to do some reverse engineering and match up new drivers this will take a bit of research and testing ....Me and Randy have been building Hi FI speakers for over 20 years with this knowledge and experience me designing building boxes and Randy doing the crossovers we get good results ....the project will be a good 2 way nearfield passive and a larger 3 way passive for play back
