Sorry guys/gals, I didn't get the chance to post my review yesterday, so here goes:

Just to elaborate a bit on the Cheap Trick technical difficulties and to digress a bit more for a moment, before the show, my wife and I were walking up to the gate and we could hear Cheap Trick's sound check. They were playing "The Flame". Ironically, it was during that song that they experienced the problem. Not sure what it was, but to me, it sounded like a cable came loose, similar to when you unplug your guitar without putting your amp on Standby, or lowering the volume and it was touching something? It might have been Robin Zander's mic since once they began playing the song again, you couldn't hear his voice for the first minute or so. Speaking of Robin Zander, man can he still sing!

We were 5 - 6 rows from the stage (stage left of course, right in front of Frampton!). They were quite loud and the mix was very distorted, but my wife and I enjoyed them nonetheless.

<snip>
Great PF review - thanks :thumb:

Out of curiosity, when you say CT were "quite loud," do you mean their on stage volume or through the PA system?

YW Ray and my pleasure.

Good point! I'd have to say it was stage volume since we were fairly close, but the PA speakers, which were hung from the rafters, were in front and to the side of us. In contrast, Frampton's (i.e., the band) mix was really good. We could hear everything and there was not distortion whatsoever.

Thanks for the post and :cheers2:

Just ordered my tickets for the Albany, N.Y. show. It's all acoustic! He's calling it "Peter Frampton Raw, An Acoustic Tour".

Can't wait!!!!!

I'm not sure how I feel about an all acoustic show. Without a doubt, Peter is a fantastic acoustic player and the show will be a good one. I would much rather listen to a few acoustic numbers and then switch to a Les Paul into a Marshall for the rest of the night :)

I can't argue with that, that's for sure, but I'm looking forward to it nonetheless. It will certainly be different. I'd love to hear him play some stuff you don't often get to hear him play like "The Lodger", "Hard", "Golden Goose", "Sail Away", "One More Time", "Young Island" "Ida y Vuelta (Out and Back), "Souvenirs De Nos Peres (Memories Of Our Fathers)", "Oh When", some of the new stuff he's written and, if only it were possible, some of the stuff he wrote with Humble Pie like "Take Me Back", "Only You Can See" and of course, "Earth And Water Song".

Should be interesting to see what he comes-up with for set list.

Thanks for the post Framp and :cheers2:

I wonder if he can use the talk box for an acoustic version of Do You Feel? :)

Or maybe he'll play this one....

That was nice. What I like about his covers of The Beatles songs is that he stays pretty true to the originals.

LOL! I think he'd be able to do it. I think it'd be pretty funny if he did.

I saw Peter's show Friday night at the Hard Rock in Northfield Park, Ohio. As expected, it was a great show. I had fifth row seats, so I was able to keep an eye on what Peter's fingers were doing while he was playing. That's a nice benefit when you're trying to figure out his songs on guitar.

The setlist included everything Midnight Blues posted in post #997 and the following songs- Penny For Your Thoughts, All I Wanna Be (Is By Your Side), I Wanna Go To the Sun, and Lying. Surprisingly, he didn't play any songs from Fingerprints or Thank You Mr. Churchill. Frampton was the only act on the bill, so he was able to play a full two hours unlike the shows he's been doing with Cheap Trick.

The guitars Peter used were almost the same as the ones Midnight Blues listed. He never used his signature model LP during the show. He also gave the back story on his Epiphone acoustic he used to write Baby I Love Your Way.

Thankfully, about 99.9 percent of the crowd respected Peter's request of not using cell phones after the third song. I didn't want things to turn into a pissing match between Peter and a few fans, but that never became an issue.

Good show last night in Peachtree City. It was at one of those amphitheater type joints that have tables up front and seats behind those. Probably half the capacity of the place are season ticket holders.

Cheap Trick did a great set and the crowd, on average, responded better to them than Frampton.

Half-way through DYFLWD, a very drunk lady was standing up front by herself trying to get Peter's attention. She eventually pulled his monitor off the stage (no barrier) and fell down. After a few minutes of a roadie trying to to get her to leave, a policeman eventually escorted her away to the hoots and laughter of the crowd.

Peter seemed to take it in stride and made jokes about it for the rest of the song.

Glad you enjoyed the show. Too bad a drunk attempted to ruin it for everybody. Where in the heck was security that it took them a few minutes to show up and remove that lady?

Peachtree City is a very well-to-do planned city south of Atlanta. If she was that close to the stage, she was a season ticket holder, thus rich, thus the local cops would handle with care- politics in other words.

First off, THANKS FOR KEEPING THE THREAD GOING GANG!!!!! I've been pretty busy lately, thus, haven't had much time to go online.

Framp, how jealous am I that he was the only act at the show you saw!!!!!? Not that I didn't like CT when I saw them together, but I'd much prefer to see just Frampton, typing of which, got my tickets in the mail the other day for the acoustic show.

Lannes, glad you enjoyed the show!!!!! I'll bet after all these years, Frampton has seen just about everything. He knows how to handle situations and is really a pro when it comes to that kind of stuff.

Thanks again gang and :cheers2:

Yeah, Greg kinda dropped the ball on this one. On the bright side, I thought I heard some Jerry Reed licks in there, so I'll give him credit for that.
